We have a Power5 9133-55A running AIX 5, and while working it froze. Tried to reboot, but it fails to do so. Connecting to the HMC and getting to the ASMI and
checking for errors it shows no hardware errors at all, only "informational" events. Tried to reboot from the ASMI both to SMS and normal, and
it doesn't come up either way. The IBM Thinkvision monitor with which we normally work remains blank even after the customary double beep.
Can bring the server up in diagnostic mode with an IBM diagnostic CD and run diagnostics, but it shows all the hardware is working normally, including the 3 hard drives.
Anybody have any idea what could be wrong? IBM refuses to help on this older server, and post-warranty IT shops have no idea.
