This is mind boggleing

For some odd reason they don't want to dial 9, even though thats how the system is designed and it dial's 9 no matter what. So we created a SC to bypass the dial 9.

The extensions are 1300-1400
If someone in the office dial's 11xx instead of 13xx by accident then hangs up we get a call from the 911 service saying that they had a missed call. Any suggestions on how to keep 911 from being called if they dial 11?

Thanks

erm - the IPO only uses 9 if the short code 9N is used? are you sure you arent just over egging the pudding here?

check your short codes!

We do this in the ARS table (though I guess it depends on what version you're working with).

11 -> Dial Emergency -> 911
911 -> Dial Emergency -> 911

9N goes to the ARS table, so actual digits dialed on the user side are 911 or 9911 to get 911.

Indeed this sounds like bad programming, 11 should never route to emergency unless you made an error with your shortcode setup, plus it isn't designed to dial 9 it's actually the other way round it will happily run without ever dialling 9, we have 100's out there no 9's for external calls, the 9's for external are mainly due to American call routing :)

the system puts the 11 in by default. So in the US we get a short code of 9N that points to the ARS automatically and then we get 11 and 911 in the ARS. with PRI it dials so quickly that the 11 gets a lot of problems. In some cases we have removed it and in others added ; to it to slow the call down a little.

ah your right unless they have a ? that points at the ARS or some other way the calls get to the ars. maybe user short codes.
