New to system, still doing inventory. Just want to ask if it is capable....

We have 2 pots lines that were added to pbx yesterday for 911 calls moved off of old equipment.

Need to have 4 total in hunt group.

Rather than have them ring on same consule phones dispatchers use I want to pull them off that phone, and add them to MLX-5 sets that sit next to the consule and the 911 calls will only ring to the MLX phones.

I have analog blade I'd have to add..I am just sounding this out....

To get this running

1)Install analog blade to pbx the 408GLM haven't done one yet. Have added boards in G3si Definity

2)Have telco provision lines to be ground start/loop start

3)Bring lines into the pbx

4)Set up hunt group with all 4 lines
I'd like to set up hunt group with 2 new lines first, test it and then bring other 2 into group after

5)Set up MLX phones extensions in pbx

6)Add MLX extensions to answergroup or similar so if call comes in rings at both locations.

Have I missed any steps? Thanks J

I replaced an old Merlin 1030 with a Magix that was doing 911 service.

Basically, the 911 trunks are T&R Lines, and the phones they terminate to MUST HAVE "RECALL" (FLASH) buttons.

That's how they do a call back on a 911 hang up call.

It sounds like you are on the right track, but some of what you are saying/asking is a bit confusing.

That's because I'm used to programing on a Definity. :O)

Since you are used to working on a Definity....remember you just can't add the additional module with the system on. Everytime I have tried to do the so called "Hot Swap" everything to the right of the module I removed quit working...processor sometimes locked up...etc. You should power the system down before adding modules.

You didn't say what release software you have. E911 tables were available in Magix 1.5 and later...so you will have to add your trunks to this table for outbound 911 calls to work...I have found on most upgrades from Legend to Magix this little detail is forgotten about until 911 is dialed and it doesn't go anywhere.

Will you use these lines for outbound as well? In order for them to be put on the ARS table they are put in pools. If you expect them to appear individually on this MLX5 set and you want to use them for outbound you will have to put them in their own pool....because if they are in the same pool they will only appear on 1 button....and with a 5 button maybe this would be you best choice. I have paired the trunks up in similar situations. Say, put lines 1 and 2 in one pool and 3 and 4 in the second pool. Then when they are assigned to the five button set one button represents POOL-NNN (lines 1 and 2) and the second button represents POOL-NNN (lines 3 and 4). One more thing you are still limited to 11 pools total in the Legend/Magix world. Must be quite a shock after the G3 world. lg

Yeah feels like my hands are tied half the time... LOL :)

These are actually going to be inbound 911 call for a dispatch center.

State stopped paying for them and now we have to make it work :)

After re-reading your intial comments about what you are trying to do...I see that I was totally in left field on the objective. So you are using..a Legend/Magix for a 911 dispatch center?

If you are presently using a Calling Group with group ring then you have at least R3 Magix...You talk as if this dispatch center is in operation already. I didn't quite understand merlinman's comment on the "recall" button but I know MLX5 sets don't have one and it would have to be programmed on a line button to use it. You also say that you would like only the MLX5's to ring in for the 911 calls but on step 6 you say they both would ring?? So if you are going to have 4 trunks assigned to a MLX5 and you actually do need a recall button you would be a button short since you can't take all the SA/ICOM's off of the set. I guess you could try to move the SA/ICOM's to buttons 6 and 7 eventhough you couldn't see them but you don't really need to see them in this application. I think I would try to do MLX10D's to cut down on confusion.

IF you do presently have a calling group set up as "Group Ring"...then you could just assign the 4 POTS lines as personal lines to the MLX's set for immediate ring and point them to the Calling Group as well. Label the trunks as 911CALL. With it set this way all the MLX's would ring along with all the calling group phones...If the sets have displays.....I think you would see 911CALL???? but I am not 100% sure. Let us know your final solution and maybe merlinman could allaborate a little more on the recall being necessary. lg

I have reviewed my notes on the one I set up in PA.

They had 28 Button sets with several lines assigned to the phones.

We did not use a hunt group, and I am rather sure that's not what you need.

In looking at how the sets were setup, I determined that they ended up using #775 instead of a button.

I think MLX-5 sets won't be big enough.

I would recommend MLX-10 sets so you can have appearances of all lines AND a Recall Button.

It was really just a simple little square system with 25 or 26 lines and 4 or 5 phones.

I miss spoke we are going to use mlx10
