I have a Gateway 300 with a 9gig drive
Now Norton is showing only a 1.99 gig drive
speed disk hangs up on various clusters.Must I reformat?
I don't mind reformatting, but I can never get the
Cd rom drivers going

What else have you done to the system. Sounds like you have reformatted without having the drive expansion software available. Ed Fair

no, I have not reformatted
what is drive expansion software?
Thank you

A program called "Drive Manager" that allows large drives to exist in systems that have BIOSs that limit hard drives to 2 gb.
This is an overlay that supercedes the normal boot.
This info may be in error, since different operating systems have different drive capacities.
Would help if you gave more info. Ed Fair

it sounds like your bios will not suport the drive. try contacting your MB manufactor and downloading a flash upgrade for your bios. this sould sort the problem out.
