Hi

We have a problem and hope that someone can helps please??

Our program loads succesfully but when it tries to access our first .dat file (a very simple 1 record dat file with no .idx) we receive an error message 9/199! It only seems to be happening with a new machine with windows 2000, the system works fine on an older win 98 machine without anyproblems. It also only works when trying to access the system over a network, if the software is copied locally and ran then it all works fine!

Hope this makes sense and someone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Martin

And what says the maual (doc) about this error ?
And which sort of cobol (MF, RM, ...) and which version ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

we are using MF NetExpress and the manual says:

199 Operating System error code lies outside expected range Fatal
A system call has returned an unexpected error number which is not documented.

Thanks

Martin

Looks like you are running an old version of NetExpress; or do you have version 4 or older?

That version does not work properly with Windows 2000. You need an upgrade. Also, MF may have patches for your version.

Thanks for that Dimandja. Not quite sure what to do now as we do not have maintenance with MF so i will have to have a word with my boss!!

Thanks again.

Martin
