Hi,

Just two quick questions,

I know that you should upgrade to R10.x first before going to R11.0.2 (then on to R11.0.4.4). I am upgrading a Server edition Primary and secondary with 7 IPO500s.

1. Does it matter which version of R10 you use I have been told to use the GA version but can see others say use the latest service pack?

2. When you are at the R10 step are the IPO500 gateways affected license wise or do they go into the license grace mode?

Many thanks!

I did one going from 9.1 to the latest release of 10.1, then from 10.1 to the latest SP for 11.0.4. The gateways continue to run on 9.1 after going to 10.1, but I upgraded those to 10.1 before going to 11 - customer wanted to spread the upgrade out over a couple days.

Documentation states to use the latest service pack.

Hi biv343

Did you stay on 10.1 for a while then?

How did you handle the licenses?

Did you have any issuse with password complexity on the IP phones?

The documentation I think is badly worded because they also say:
If using a DVD to install this release of IP Office Server Edition and Applications Server,
you can upgrade directly from the previous GA release (10.0 or 10.1)

I know I am using web manager but its just odd because its in the same paragraph as:

Upgrades are
supported from the latest service packs of 10.0, 10.1 and 11.0.

Then there is this note.

Warning: In all cases, always backup all application data to a separate location
before upgrading.Note: for systems running a version prior to 10.0 latest SP an
upgrade to 10.0 latest SP is required.

I am going to upgrade from 9.1 (latest SP) to 10.0 (latest SP) then onto R11.0.

I think that sounds safe?

The system ran on 10.1 for around 24 hours. I loaded the R11 license on the primary server, did the upgrade to 10.1 on the primary/secondary and all expansions, and repeated going to 11.0.4 SP3 (latest at the time) the next evening. No problems with Avaya IP phones short of the 'you're using default passwords and outsiders can access your system' message in Manager, but sometimes third party phones or third party applications that use SIP endpoints need to have some reconfig done in the application and the extensions for the phone password field, but that seems to be hit and miss.

Thanks!

Did you delete the ADI licenses first or after?

I had an issue before with an upgrade on a 500 when it went to R11 I had to change the passwords because nothing would register using their existing passwords.

Later I found out that there is a tick box in security settings to turn this off, though you get lots of alarms in SSA saying a legacy password is being used.

Didnt know if it was different for SE.
