9.1 sp1 - Append problem

We have 11 jobs (9 set to overwrite), 9 Ultrium tapes, Media set periods are Append period: Infinite - allow append. Overwrite protection 2 days.
Some jobs spans 2 tapes but sit there requesting ovewritable media and will not append to a second tape even though tapes are available (infinite allow append). Anyone got any ideas, please?

Do these 11 jobs run every day? If 9 of 11 jobs overwrite media then only 2 jobs can write to multiple tapes. Give us the rest of the details on your backup jobs.

In an Append job, the second and subsequent tapes needed are always overwritten.
