Ok here's the scenario - server A has BE 9.1 and LTO2 tape drive. Server B has BE 8.0 and 4mm tape drive. Each backup their own data. I want to change so server B is backed up by server A as well to simplify matters. But to install remote agent on server B it wants an uninstall of BE 8 which is a bit scary - I have taken a copy of the Veritas folder but is there anyway of just disabling version 8 and installing the remote agent 9.1 as well on the same box?

Thanks in advance for any responses

I have a server that used to be a backup server and still has 9.1 Backup Exec on it and now also has a remote agent on it so it can be backed up by another 9.1 Backup Exec server and it works ok.

I'd assume its the difference in versions that it isn't happy about so I'd say you have to uninstall it. Isn't scary aslong as you still have the discs and you know the config of your backups, its all easy enough to install and setup again if needed.
