I just read the new features and details for the IPO release 9. It looks like it will handle up to 2000 extensions at 32 locations. Is Avaya getting into the larger scale systems and networks to compete with Cisco and some of the other large scale systems?

Yes they do and they call it the midmarket.
The server edition can handle 1500 users on one server and 2000 with 2 servers and with expansion systems.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

To be exact, IPO is competing in bigger markets. AVAYA has been competing in the enterprise market since long before Cisco ever thought about building a phone. AVAYA Aura has a maximum extension limit of 64,000.

Yes but everyone seems to always say that Cisco is the most popular and everyone is asking for Cisco all the time from routers, switches and now phones. It's Cisco, Cisco, Cisco. It is also the name you see every where even in the movies. I see Cisco in ads all over the place and not much of AVAYA. Cisco's adverting the "Internet of Everything".

Are you trying to get us to sell Cisco or you thinking if selling Avaya? If it's the larger sites that are of interest to you then it isn't the IP Office you should consider but the Aura really :)

Cisco does do telephony too and Avaya does do networking too.
Core business Cisco -> networking
Core business Avaya -> Telephony

Make up your mind about who is better in what :)

Cisco.... You can buy better, but you can't pay more.

It's true though, Cisco has been genious with their marketing, the phones are all over the movies and tv. The hit show "the office" (US version) had them on every episode for years. Now people want them without knowing why, then when they get them they have no idea how to use them.

Well, Avaya is pretty visible in TV series House of Cards.
Kevin Spacey's caracter use a 9608 and the studio has an IPO 500v2 with 24x 9600 series + a conference phone.
*it's all going according to their plan*

Kind regards

Gunnar

We did work on the set of where they filmed The Office, they had a Panasonic with about 100 phones, everyone hated it, they all wanted a Cisco like the show, had, hilarious! They were going to get an IP Office (Mother company Universal has Avaya), this was before we became a BP, but the studio closed down right after the show went off the air. I haven't watched House Of Cards, I'll look out for it.

It's only on Netflix[smile]

Kind regards

Cisco network products are great, but only if you go Cisco all the way. Cisco and VoIP of other brands =

I'd rather use HP, Avaya or Extreme Networks, they use the real open standards technology at a very reliable grade.

The phrase I gave earlier was actually said about IBM. Another thing they said was nobody ever got fired for buying IBM

Back in the 90's I put in Cisco for the same reason. I could always say I put in the best because that was the sentiment even if I didn't believe that Cisco could spit packets out any better than anyone else. It was also job security because you could always find a job if you had Cisco skills.

Ethernet ports should have become a commodity long ago and priced accordingly; like PC clones. Cisco is starting to lose market share but they still have a massive portion of the network market.

I prefer HP switches due to the lifetime warranty and purchasable maintenance contacts if you need that sort of thing.

I forced myself to watch the film "White House Down" and it had Avaya Phones in that.
