8x24 with DR5 & M8 only displaying town name

I have an 8X24 that I installed an M8 on. Its is programmed to display name first. The problem is that the only thing it displays is the town the call is coming from not the name of the person or company. You can push info and get the number but no proper name. Is this the only thing that it will display?

I would first check the line(s) in questions with a regular caller id box. It sounds like your provider is not sending you the level of CLASS detail that you want.

The M8 would not function to filter the content you receive, and you correctly softkey your way between display lines.

i know the town shows up on some cell phone calls, but not land lines.

I see the state show up on cell phone calls here in Oregon.

The caller ID you see is dependent on several sources, none of which are under the control of your Norstar system. Some telephone companies and cell phone providers are rather lax in their efforts to maintain their part of the national caller ID database.

Thanks for all your help. I have figured this out as we are starting to see some calls now come in with proper names. More times than not it comes in with just the town. (IE My office that is on Comcast calls the Church that is on Comcast and it only says Jacksonville Fl.)

I noticed that on Time Warner Digital phone service that the name of the town show up if your in the same area code. I was told by a Bell South CO tech once that caller id is not guaranteed after the call is passed across exchages and telco's.
