I have recently replaced a norstar 8x24 that would loose programming every time it was powered down. I replaced it with another 8x24 but used the same software cartridge. I am continuing to have the same problem of loosing programing. Is there a capacitor somewhere that could be bad or do you think my software could be the problem? I have a hard time believing that I have (2) bad 8x24's.
Any suggestions???

The user database is stored on the sleeve portion of the software, there is a capacitor in the sleeve.
You should replace the sleeve.

There are two 5.5 volt farad batteries in the sleeve of the software cartride. They are not capacitors. You can solder out the old ones and replace them. Better yet, just order up a new NT5B49FA cartridege if you can find one.
