Hello. I have a nortel norstar 8x24 KSU with 1 M12x0 trunk, 3 0x16 extension and 1 startalk voicemail system expansion(the old one that use 1 hard drive, 1 floppy drive and looks as a computer without monitor port). It carry 3 dialogic cards with 2 extensions ports on each one and 1 fax modem 14400. I don't really know what happen to it but it stop working the voice greetings and voice mail system. When i try to get in on the program with any Feature 980 or 983 or 9xx (xx any number code) i got INACTIVE FUNCTION message. I get in on the KSU (feature **266344) at maintenance and looks on the DNs to see if it detect the extensions attached to the dialogic card but i get none n/a status on all of them (6). I power cycle the application module and it run fine and download sucessfully the dialogic cards getting stuck on modem initialized waiting carrier. If there its something i miss or any input to get it up again. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I pull out the modem and dialogic cards, power on the system and it still same condition. Also switch position the dialogic cards. Run scandisk and defrag on this hard drive without any error. It use OS2 Warp as operating system.

Yes, when i move them for troubleshoot, i set the jumpers too acorded the setting on each port position. Thanks.

HAD SAME PROBLEM TURNED OUT AS HARD DRIVE CRASH SELL THEM
A NEW ONE IT WILL BE WORTH IT UPGRADED COMMUNICATIONS
IS A GOOD INVESTMENT

Plug a phone into the ports for the voicmail, make sure you don't have dead ports, or disabled ports.

Make sure you're using a standard line cords to connect. Make sure that the jack is wired correctly to the station port for the voicemail if you crimp your own ends make sure it's correct. Remember using a standard line cords puts a reversal in the loop. I have ran into that problem before and found that the line cords that I was using was straight through .

Reading further your problem sounds as little different. I missed the part about the modem hangup.
