8x16 conflicting with GATM8?

I am trying to install an 8x16 MBM into a BCM400 4.0.
Here is the current setup.

DSM32+ on bus 2
ASM8 on bus 3
GATM8 on bus 7

Therefore buses 4,5 and 6 are vacant. I did a shutdown from within Element Manager. I installed the 8x16 combo with the dip switches set to 111101 (bus 4) and rebooted.

The lines connected to the existing GATM8 didn't come back up. In Element Manager I can see the newly installed combo MBM but bus 7 shows as a trunk module but as "unequipped". I tried disabling and re-enabling it but to no avail. I did a reboot from within Element Manager, again to no avail.

Finally, I did another shutdown and confirmed the dip switch
settings on the GATM8 and the 8x16. They were correct. I decided to just pull the 8x16 and reboot with the original configuration for the time being.

I will try applying the newest system patch tomorrow but I am curious if anybody has encountered a similar problem.

Switch seeting for bus 5 should be 111011.
On a combo the trunks use the first bus and the stations take the next highes Bus. So trunks 5 stations 6.
You have it set for 6 so the stations are in conflict with the GATM on bus 7.

cook1802, look at Table 28 on page 116 of the most recent version of the BCM200/400 4.0 Installation and
Maintenance Guide.

I want to install the 8x16 on bus 4 so my dip switches are set correctly, 111101. The sets would appear on bus 5.

Your proposed switch setting of 111011 is actually for bus 6.

Anyway, I am hoping that the system patch will do the trick for me.

install the 8x16 on bus 4 offset 0

bus 4 will be for the 8 lines
and bus 5 will be used for the 16 extensions,

in future if u add another 8x16, then set it on bus 4 offset 2

hopwe you that asm 8 gatm 4,8 use only half of the bus so you can use one bus for two asm 8 or gatm 8, 4

keeping in mind the offsets,

thanks
