8550 dt paper selection question

I have a phaser 8550 and i manually setup the tray 1 paper setup via the control panel on the printer and in the paper options on the printer driver page but it still just picks from tray 2. What else do i need to do?

Also, when i print an envelope it takes about 1-2min for it to print and immeditaly asks for another envelope. Is this normal?
