So I'm having some 1/4" wide stripes problems- more problematic than ever before. Usually one cleaning does the trick for me.
The stripe (consisting of hairline parallel stripes) is showing up in an image with plenty of color and not always in the same place.
I've done the following:
1. Elim. Light stripes test (3 times now.) I held off on the freeze test suggested by xerox since I turned it off last night (I do NOT normally turn this off).
2. Remove print smears test (once)
3. Cleaned the blade on the maintenance kit (about 2-3 months old with plenty of life left)
4. Opened doors and removed whatever dust I could find
5. Went to the xerox site where the next step would be to use the JetFix procedure to clean the jets differently.
6. Printed various test pages directly from the printer's control panel.
7. I do have the updated firmware (my serial number was more recent than this)
I'm about to do the JetFix test- but this seems like it will use a ton of ink. If I have to, I will.
But here is what I don't understand. On the different Light Stripes Tests, the bars that are missing are in different positions (as were the stripes on my various test pages). Does this mean I've simply got dirt floating around in there? Is this a print head problem? Or do you think it the JetFix suggestion by xerox might do it? I'm not really sure how the printheads operate so do I do all 4 colors? On my last stripes test, black, yellow and magenta each had a problem bar. Oddly though, the black stripe that was affected had yellow in it.
Thanks for the help.
Nick
