Has anyone used the 8400 with transparencies? If so, what types, brands, or particular specs would you recommend? I've used many different types of papers, with different wts, sizes and textures with incredible results.

I was a little hesitant with transparencies though. For our color laser hp4550 (which has been thrown into backup status since we've gotten this xerox) we've used laser transparencies, but at a much higher cost. Than there are the generic transparencies but due to the heat in the laser I avoided them.

I know Xerox has their recommendations, but sometimes the manufacturer's liability factor gets a bit tough to just simply agree with.

Any thoughts?
Thank you.

As with the previous versions of the solid ink printers Xerox recommends their brand of transparencies. I have seen many customers using other brands without much negative effects. Originally the transparency media had a coating on one side which was supposed to enhance the ink transfer, though general purpose transparencies seemed to work well for alot of people. I have only seen on rare occassion where the cheaper brands may cause mechanical problems or smearing because the ink did not transfer well. My only suggestion would be to use a laser rated transparency and try and avoid very cheap brands that may create problems.

Just the comments I needed. Thank you.
