We recently inherited an 840 that was working normally in its previous location, then sat around for a couple of months until I had space to set it up. It comes on, begins the startup diagnostics, but then stops with nothing on the LCD; both front LEDs on full; and the rear left LED blinking the error code 9 (1 long, 4 short) which the service manual says is an NVRAM error.
The only mention of troubleshooting the NVRAM requires using the menu, which isn't showing. Xerox/Tektronix says I have to schedule a $$ervice call but won't give me a clue as to how serious the problem is. Anyone encountered this before?

My first suggestion would be to reseat the main board and its components, nvram, memory, etc. Then remove all the covers and ensure all the connectors are seated properly. I have seen everything from printhead to power control, to memory simm cause the same symptoms.
