There are a number of different parts between the 840 and 850, printhead, power control board, main board, just to name a few. Let me know what parts you want to swap and I can tell you if they are compatible.
The printheads are not compatiable with each other. The 840, 850, 860 and 8200 all use different printheads, unlike the early 340 and 350 which used teh same head.
hey guys, i have a phaser 850dp and i cannot eliminate the light strips from the black ink portion of my prints. i have phaser 850 for spare parts too and i was wondering if you guys knew how to replace a bad print head? thanks.
Ive only done this once for a friend. At the company that I work at which refurbishes and resells off lease printers. We trash printers if they have bad printheads becuase our labor cost and the part to replace it more then the printer is worth.
The print head is a module that includes 4 melting chambers, electronics and the actual print head. All this is controlled by a cable that looks like a 50 pin scsi cable and a power connector for the heating element.
To get to the print head first cool down the printer (atleast 30 minutes) and remove the side panels, top ink door assembly and front LCD panels. The print head module is towards the center of the printer. Once you get the plastic covers off you should be able to find it.
There are technician manuals available on the internet and via eBay sellers is you need step by step instruction.
