827: no ATM0 MAC address?
Please unconfuse--

Error: 6d11h: %IP-4-ZERO_ADDR: Zero MAC address for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx [IP address of ATM0 port] in ARP cache

This says there is no associated MAC for the ATM0 static address. But MACs are hard-coded to ports(?). I realize some protocols (frame relay) require IP mapping to the port to assign the MAC. That does not seem to be a IOS option for the 827.

Show ARP cache gives inside Eth0 MAC address and also gives a MAC for the ISP gateway IP. But no entry for the ATM0 port itself.

Thanks

If I'm correct, not all ports have a MAC address. When serial ports are not assigned a MAC, they use that of the Ethernet port(s) or Aui port as they are labelled.

Thank you for your reply. This little 827 router has just the two fixed ports, ADSL and Ethernet.

Regards
