827 IOS image

I bought second hand 827 ADSL 1-Ethernet port end-of-sale router, which hasn't got IOS firewall, IPSec and VPN capapbilities. I am buying 32MB DRAM, but the problem is with the IOS image. I can't register my router and download the update for free. I want to use it for learning and to connect to my home network remotly. Can someone give me an advice. Thanks for your help.

There's two ways you can get the IOS image legally:

1) Buy the image
2) Buy a Smartnet contract from Cisco, this will entitle you to download any image you require while the contract is valid.
