I have an 820 using 4 lines on the 4 line board with BIS-10's. If I add another 4 line board but only use lets say two of these lines on the sets for a total of 6 line will I be able to still assign the buttons on the sets for things like REDIAL or SPEED DIAL?

I know that you cannot use those "line" buttons on a 206 or 410. I am not sure about the 820 - but I would guess that you cannot use those buttons fro programming. I believe you have to move up to a Merlin 1030 before you can administer the system to remove "phantom" (unused)lines.

yes you can, in admin you take line off & program what you want, you can program lines in any order, some can have all line , or just one , then you can program feature

admin
dial sta
green light on -assigned
green light off-not assigned
touch admin

I thought this was a regular 820. If it is an 820D2 - then that system has more sophisticated admin programming options as cvrbob indicated.

actullay Tom you can do it with any merlin 206 0r 410 or 820 , if you have feature module 2

Hi cvrbob: I didn't realize that - my manual only goes to Feature Module 1. Good info!

thanks , anytime ,still have quite afew out working still ,the best AT&T ever made

if it's a Fp 2 or a 820D
at ext 10 slide the switch to P and dial #01 to enter system admin and dial *46 for 6 lines (*4 plus the number of lines)
then slide the switch back to the middle

if it's a 820D2
at ext 10 slide the switch to P and dial #49 to enter system admin and dial *46 for 6 lines (*4 plus the number of lines)
then slide the switch back to the middle

then do the ringing assignments at each phone
*35 (No ring/red light off)
*36 (Delayed ring/red light flashes)
*37 (Immediate ring/red light on

You can also individually program the lines to the phones as stated above but this will globally assign the number of lines to all of the phones

if you have lets say 6 lines connected and you only assign one of the staions 4 of them is there any way that station user can place or recieve calls from lines 5 and 6?

Also, is this just as simple as installing the second Line Board into the cabinet?
