Hi,
I have a few 8100's running ver. 3.2.4.0 on the 8190SM CPU. We don't do any SMLT, SSL, QOS or much of anything fancy...just 802.1Q tagging multiple VLANS off our core 8600 across campus to these four 8100's then out to baystack 470/450 hybrid stacks in the closets. Nothing really to complain about but could anyone suggest a reason to upgrade from ver: 3.2.4.0. Would ver: 3.7.13.0 be the newest version I could run on a 8190SM w/ 64M ?

Thanks in advance.

One practical reason... 3.2.X code is no longer supported.
3.5.x is the earliest supported code. If you ever need assistance from Nortel, they won't talk to ya til you upgrade.

hi,

The latest official release to run on the 8190SM is 3.3.3.0. Starting from 3.5.x.x, Nortel will recommend you to upgrade the 8190SM to 128MB.
We have some 8190SM running code 3.5.1.0 without any problems (about 2 years). I assume it mainly depends on the configuration that will be used with this release. Ofcourse Nortel will no support you with this setup...

Regards
