Hi,
I have a 802.11b Wireless Access Point and a notebook with a builtin 802.11g wireless adapter.
My notebook detects the Access point and in the configuration menu, can see the correct SSID, BSSID, Channel, Network Type etc.. However trying to connect to this SSID, keep getting a Wireless link Unavailable message.
I can see two lines in the config menu with different BSSIDs and different Network Types - "Infrastructure " and " Ad Hoc ", the default one being Infrastructure. IF I select the network type Ad Hoc, I see a message "SIGNAL: Excellent" and wireless connection available but nothing works, I mean no IP is attributed by the gateway machine.
Can anyone pl throw some light on this??
Ofcourse, the basic question is Whether a 802.11g adapter is COMPATIBLE with a 802.11b ACCESS Point ?
thnx,
sg
P.S: The access point is fine because I have another machine with a 802.11b adapter which works fine.
