I connect via 802.11b wireless usb modem.
My connection stops after some time and i have to restart in order to work again but my downloads are always active and donwload speed does not decrease. But this does not happen always also many times i try to get into sites and i get message
"ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: The following error was encountered:
Connection Failed
The system returned:
(110) Connection timed outThe remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

I also cannot ping any website at all times i get "request time out"
but i get results when i do a tracert.
I have not changed any setting since i installed my wireless device and i have no ip address or dns or gateway installed i just installed its driver and got connection.

I did virus, adware and spyware check found nothing. My zonalarm does not make any difference for this problem.
I did some search and found this may be DNS issue but don't know where to start..Can anyone please help
thank you

Is ZoneAlarm blocking you from pinging? Have a look at its list of permissions for programs, particularly 'TCP/IP Ping'. You may have previously set it to "deny".

You say your "downloads are always active and donwload speed does not decrease". Do you mean that when you get the error message about failing to connect to a site, you still have files downloading that are not affected? If this is the case, your wireless connection is still 'live' and the problem may be with either the site you're trying to connect to or your ISP.

One other thought - Internet Explorer only allows about 4 simultaneous connections, so if you're downloading 4 files you may get errors when you try to connect to a 5th site.
