i have an 800 # that terminates to a POTS line that somehow (this is where i need help) seems to also ring to an internal DN in my PBX. If i call the POTS line OR the DN i ring to the same key on the person's phone whose responsibility it is to answer this 800 #. If not answered, I go to an external voicebank. What is the purpose of having the POTS line first point to an internal DN (it is NOT programmed as a PVR and it is NOT a DID so i have no idea how it's even getting there) and then the voicebank? please advise. thank you.

It's programmed as an auto terminate DN, It's just a DN on that phone. It could have been programmed as a PVR but it's not necessary to do that. If you look at the RDB it should say (AUTO YES) and on the Trunk TN it should have ATDN an then the DN of the phone it's on.

Could be the phone company is forwarding calls from the POTS# to your DID. Do you know the POTS? Call the phone company and ask them how it is configured.
