Does anyone know how to find out who owns a particular 800 number?
thanks

You can try a reverse look-up on superpages.com. Some will show there, some will not.

What I am trying to find is the carrier that owns the 800 number. This is a particular 800 number that I would like, but I think I need to go to the exact carrier who owns the number to try to obtain that number

Do you mean the business that pays for the 800 number, or the carrier that is responsible for the 800 numbers? You can call AmeriTech (800-337-4194) to find out the Long Distance carrier.

You can usually contact your own RESPORG and they will tell you whoe is the RESPORG for the number you want.

If your 611 is automated, and asks you to enter the area code and telephone number that you are reporting trouble on, try inputting the 800 number. SBC (at least) will send you to a recording listing the carrier responsible and their contact number.
