Hi
We got the following situation.
A Server should become new disks for expancy. It's running NW 5.1 with Sp3. For Backup we used ArcServe 6.6 with cumulative Patch (latest).
The Backup Job completed successfully without any errors. The Data the log said, was all backuped. So we changed the Disks, and restored the Data. After 20 GB, the Server just rebooted. No Abend, no Error message, just warm boot.
We started over with the Restore Job. After 13 GB, the same story again.
We tried with an older Tape, then the Restore was successful. BUT: some directories where restored with the 8.3 format, but others where restored with long filename. SMS and TSA were allway loaded.
This was not the only problem: Not all trustees where restored.
So, we had to find out, that ArcServe sometimes did backup the server with 8.3 format. And on some backups, trustees were not backuped.
We opened a call and reported this problems to CA. But finally we do not have a solution. Maybe somebody is out there and does have the same horrible experience like us.
Thanks,
fox
