We are trying to expand our recording capabilities beyond 40 concurrent max in 8.0. A consultant told me the hard cap is 40 even with 8.1 serer mode however that doesn't seem correct with what i've read about it supporting 100 vm pro channels.

Does anyone know for certain if he is incorrect or if as I suspect you can go up to 100 simultaneous if you move towards server edition/8.1?

Any recommendations for alternative recording solutions would also be appreciated.

Correct, you can have 100 voicemail ports on server edition. I have heard nothing that would indicate there was a limitation to the maximum simultaneous recordings.

BBX Technologies has a product that can do trunk side recording....

The DL120 supports 250 users and 40 vmpro Ports.
The DL360 supports 500 users and 100 vmpro Ports.
so you both are right.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

He clarified that because we are on 500 V2 we would have to re-purchase all of our licensing to move to the DL360 and said Avaya plans to allow upgrades but they werent available yet.

An external call recorder is a better solution I think, they tend to do a better job anyway, VM pro will stop recording an outbound call on transfer for example. Also for that amount of ports and using the server edition the cost will be much more anyway. A dedicated recorder is designed for the job, VM pro just does recording as a bonus, that's how I view it anyway :)

Yes, it is likely where we are headed. It is just nice to have all the recordings in our reporting solution (Chronicall)

I know what you mean, but dedicated recorders can have very intuitive interfaces too and how much is the nicety of the Xima tie in really worth to you ?
