8.0 Report Totals

I am new to Crystal and am having a problem. I have a table that has 7 fields in which I created a seperate detail section for each one of them. If the field is null, I suppress the detail section. The problem I'm having is when I total fields from the detail sections and any of them are suppressed throughout the entire report, I get null values for my totals. Any ideas?

Create a Formula like:
IF IsNull({field}) then 0 else {field}

then, total the formula instead of the field.
