We are having a CM6 installed soon to replace our old avaya. Home workers currently use the avaya softphone over a cisco vpn (v4.8) to the office. When the call manager is installed is there any way that instead of a softphone they can use an ip phone instead. I suppose my question is that are there any cisco phones that have vpn capabilities built in?

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

No, none of the phones have a native VPN ability. Your best bet would be an ASA 5505 and configuring a VPN. In addition Cisco also offers a softphone.

We have users using 7941 phones at home. However, they have a small Cisco router that does the VPN at the hardware level and connects back to our network. It works well, but is expensive, so it's only used for users working full time at home. All other users get IP Communicator since it still works and has minimal cost.

The Reason I suggested the ASA 5505 is that it has 2 POE ports so that you dont have to use a power brick or injector.
