7960 Phones, Call Manager 3.1 and Text Messaging...

Hi!

I was just wondering. Is it possible to add functionality for sending banners or text messages to other IP phone users? I've heard of either some functionality already present in Call Manager or some additional XML code that can be added to Call Manager to allow this but I'm not sure how much truth there is in this.

Does anyone else have any thoughts or ideas?

It depends what type of messages you are talking about... you can use the idle URL display text / graphics on the phone screen when it is inactive straight out of the box... but if you are talking about sending a directed message to a phone such as "Your 2pm meeting has arrived" then you next extra 3rd party software to do that.

and look for the envoy product. This is a webservice whith some nice and neat features to push pictures and audio to 7940/7960 ip phones.

I am looking at both Twisted Pairs Wave and Envoy products. Did you go with this? Any good? I have installed demos and first impressions are good. Feedback about experience of live installs would be gratefully received.
