Can anyone please help, we have noticed that when a user makes a call using a headset the call can still be heard from the handset ear piece even though the handset is in the cradle, is this normal?

Thanks

How are you connecting the headset? through the handset?
And are you saying that you can hear the conversation through the handset when the handset is onhook?

You should not hear the call through the handset if the headset is setup correctly... As whykap mention verify installation....

If problem persist give more detail as to what type of equipment you are using...

I'm have a mix of 7965 and 7945 cisco handsets (see below for details). Even with no headset connected (to the headset port under phone), if the handset is in the cradle with the 'headset' button on the front of the phone selected, the call can still be heard from the earpeace of the handset. I would have though that the 'headset' button should divert all audio away from the handset port but it looks as if the audio is present on both ports.

I would say you are running into a firmware bug. Upgrade or downgrade one of the sets to a different phone load and see if it continues.

I have made some tests on my phone and if I on hook the handset and the press the headset button I'm able to hear the conversation through the headset and the handset. I believe that this is working as design.

Caos is the natural order of things...

Thanks Riktov. Seems an odd design feature to me, but I guess Cisco knows best :)
