Hi

Can anyone tell me how to go about programming a 7914 Expansion Module?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Plug it into the AUX on a 7960 and above phone with a power block.

Configure Expansion Module Information in CCM.

Get latest firmware load.

Configure Line Key: Using the Cisco CallManager Administration tool, the system administrator assigns one or more DN to buttons on the Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7914 as desired. The line key will show the appropriate designation.

Speed Dial: Each button not used as a line (DN) key can be programmed as a speed-dial key in the same manner as the Cisco Unified IP Phones 7960G, 7961G, 7970G and 7971G-GE. You can use the Cisco Unified IP Phone User Options Web page to program a speed-dial number and label the associated button with an appropriate name.

Hope this helps.

You need to create a Phone Button Template that assigns the button to Lines or Speed Dials, or if you have CCM 5.0 Busy Lamp Fields. Also you have to show them as Expansion modules on the Device page.

The weirdest thing about them is, if you assign buttons 1 and 3 for lines and 2 and 4 for Speed Dials, all the Lines and Speed Dials show up as sequential buttons on the Device page. Makes for an interesting time when programming.

no offence... but why on earth would you assign buttons 1 and 3 for lines and 2 and 4 for Speed Dials?

Users are confused enough!!

In earlier versions of CCM you either had Speed Dial or Lines, no BLF option. So if a receptionist needed to see if someone was on the phone before attempting a transfer, you could assign Button 1 as a Line for BLF and use Button 2 for a Speed Dial for quick transfer to the phone on Button 1. Kept them beside each other.
