I have a Xerox Phaser 7700 that has been working wonderfully for the past 5 years. Now, when it sits idle, it will not go past the "warming up" stage. I've tried hitting "OK," and the other obvious things (such as sending it a print job to awaken it), but it does not react unless I restart it. Then it works fine until it sits idle again—at which point it will not react without restarting.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Thanks.

Possibly you are having corrupted NVRAM. Both the engine controller and the DC cont. talk to each other, and write the code.
Try an NVRAM initialize, and re-start unit several times to get them in sync.
Main menu: Support: press ok.
Service tools: Reset NVRAM: Reset Engine NVRAM Now: OK.

Service Diagnoatics: NVRAM Access: Clear Tech Rep Faults:OK
Link Code to be reset{each one at a time} OK.
