I have a Merlin Magix with 3rd party mail (DuVoice.) It was upgraded via a converted .ams file from a Legend R6, and everything works fine except 770 rings busy. To check their voice mail they are accessing an outside line and going in through their mailbox. I have got to be missing something simple. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A hunt group should NEVER give a busy ring. Oh sure, you might hear a "regular ring" followed by a low tone ring ("Laaaaamb chop")...but not a busy.

If you are truly hearing a busy, then 770 is not a DGC.

Otherwise, the solution is simple: make sure that the group includes all analog extension numbers that are patched to [Dialogic card ports presented at the back of] the DuVoice.

Makes sense?

You might also check the individual ports in the 770 group to make sure they are not offhook or busied out in the DuVoice. That could cause your condition too, the "ring-chirp" or "ring-blip" ringback tone for all ports busy.

I have had this condition happen in the Messaging 2K (Octel 100), when it did not reboot clean. It would leave all the ports busy.

I am hearing a fast busy - went on site and verified it myself. Not a ring/chirp ring/blip (nice description - I shall plagarize it) but a fast busy. So then I thought...maybe...I have finally lost my mind, so I went into spm to make sure the calling group is 770 and yes it is, so I called each port individually and all is well. Voice mail access is the only problem; they are dialing in from the outside and doing *7 to get messages.

Trunk group type is Integrated VMI - the ports are all picking up calls off the automated attendant (which they use instead of an attendant)and you can *7 into it from the outside - just cant call 770 or use a pre-programmed "get messages" button.

Do they have any other Calling Groups? Do those give a fast busy? If not, you might try deleting 770 and rebuilding it. It may have been corrupted in the translation process from the R6 Legend. Anything is possible.

It sounds almost as though you are dialing 770 over a co trunk. Is the system in key or Hybrid PBX mode? Can you program an inside auto-dial button on a digital set? Does it flash when you dial 770? What happens when you press the button?

Jim - I like your suggestion. I will try either doing that or making a different calling group for the VM. It is so weird because it works except for when you try to dial it...

It is in hybrid mode and neither a pre-programmed button or dialing 770 from a SA button works.
