I am trying to install a 750c plus plotter onto a new WinXP Pro workstation. I am using the LPT port. When I turn the computer off and on, it recognizes the new hardware and starts the installation. I am using drivers I downloaded from HP's site. After the printer is added and I try to plot or print a test page, it errors out before the printer starts recieving data.

Has anyone had this issue.

I am also thinking about just using the jetdirect card. Does anyone have instructions for setting this up?

Thanks

What's the error? In the plotter properties, ensure that the spooler is using the pc for additional swap/memory.

I already changed the spooler to use the pc for memory. I am not sure what the error is. There is not an error number or anything. When I send the print I see the status box pop up from the taskbar saying that their was an error printing to the specified device.

Does the plotter display show a error message or number.Does the recieving led stop flashing after the error?

It does not even get to the plotter. The plotter says 'Ready for Media'.

Has a test plot generated from the plotter properties menu
ever worked?

When I first installed the plotter on the machine, the test plot worked to a 8.5x11 size. Than, when I went into ACAD to try to plot, it went into receive mode for 40minutes without printing anything. I blew the printers away and reloaded another set of drivers from the HP site. Now, I cannot even print a test page. I know I am getting connection to the printer because when I boot up with the printer installed, my machine recognizes that their is new hardware and begins the installation.

Thanks

This is a good one.Can you set up the plotter to use the jet direct card,ie; ethernet ?
Have you tried another parallel cable?
We use ethernet(jet direct card) to plot.
Have you tried a configuration plot from the plotter control panel?
When you power up the plotter does the selftest successfully complete? Does the media(paper) successfully load?
I'm trying to get the low-level problems out of the way.

Dientinis,

You may want to search/post on the autodesk site newsgoup, if you haven't already. discussion.autodesk.com or through the autodesk site.
