Is there some type of tctl command or script that will change tapes in the autoloader at command for scripting purposes? I am not looking to use a tsm / adsm solution for this drive and was kind of hoping to use standard AIX backup commands.

Any help would be great!

If the library is properly configured, you can do

mt -f <drive> rewoffl

that will eject the tape. It is up to you to setup the library to be in autoload mode.

The Atape util its a powerful tool to do all u want.

Go to ftp://index.storsys.ibm.com and download the util.

have you tried:

# tctl -f /dev/rmt# offline ?

* where # = your tape drive number
* it will eject the tape

First of all I would like to thank everyone who answered my question! Then I would like to ask if anyone knows of someplace I could get some instruction on the atape application?

Thanks again!

Hey,

If you use a non-rewinding tape device like [tt]/dev/rmt0[red].1[/red[/tt], your autoloader must autochange automagically.
I hope it works...
