Has anyone here taken or studied for the 70-400 or 70-401 exams? These are the System Center Configuration Manager and System Center Operations Manager exams. My employer wants me to become a System Center expert next...

Hi

In the same boat. Does anyone know of any publications I could use to read up before starting the course?

Thanks in advance
P

The only MS Press book for SCCM is the SCCM Administrators Companion, ISBN 13 978-0-7356-2385-9. As far as CBT's go, CBT Nuggets have something out for it but I haven't found any practice exams (I have tried SelfTestSoftware\Transcender and Boson).

There are a couple of books on SCOM from other publishers but nothing from MSPress at all.

I am actually due on the M6451 course the week after next (SCCM), I am new to the whole SMS\SCCM environment but I have been playing with SCCM for a few months now (I have installed it onto 2008 server which is more difficult apparently) and it's working, I am hoping to pick up enough knowledge to do the 70-401 exam soon after the course (it depends if I can find out what makes up the exam, I may even take it on the Friday after the course if I find out more info about it).

As it stands SCCM is huge but I am really enjoying the whole new tech challange and it's kinda kick started me on getting my updated certs done.

There are a few places you should start looking at for more info, and the technet forums, lots of information there about all sorts.

Hi Simon

Thanks for the reply. I start my course Monday the 18th in London, and have spent all of 2 hours with it, so hoping to gain abit more knowledge before the course starts.

cheers

No going to Xpertise Training Limited near Embankment.
Would have been funny :)

Just around the corner from you, I am in Old Broad St :p

Just had a thought.

If we get different study guide material, we could compare?

Definitely.

I was going to suggest meeting up one evening, there's a great Oriental food place opposite Liverpool St where we can sit down and compare.

I definitely recommend playing with it, do a couple of installs if you can (I have actually written up an Installation Guide for the base product for 2008 because I have done it so many times now), also spend time looking at the MyITForums site, loads of things on there. Also there are a couple of vids floating around from Richard Smith of MS UK covering SCCM, MDT and LTI that are worth watching.

Hi Simon

Sounds good.
Is there a way we could e-mail each other without posting our e-mails to the world?

Unfortunately not, however we may be able to do the whole white carnation thing instead :p

Ok np

I'm basically free the whole week up till Thursday evening.
Would suggest Wednesday or Thursday would be best, if we are going to compare notes.

Does this fit with your schedule?

Yeah works for me, will post here and suggest what day.

How about Tuesday lunch time?
I have the MS MOC book for courseware btw.

Sorry Simon

Only just saw your post.
We got the MOC book here too, so guess our notes would be pretty similar anyway :)

Thats ok mate, how are you finding the course?

Really good. Our trainer is on loan from MS, where he normally travels around the world implementing Config manager, in some really big organisations.

Its all ways really good to have trainers with real life experience.
Have priviously had trainers who I dont think ever left the class room

What's his name? My trainer is good as well, it helps when you have someone with real world experience.
