I'm cramming for my last MCSD exam (70-300 - Analyzing solutions, etc). As I wander through the maze of jargon and complex process, I can't help but wonder, does this exam have any value at all?
The above can be compared against my goals: Improve understanding of standard software development process. Boost my resume to demonstrate that not only have I been managing projects for many years, I have paper to prove I can.
Variants of this question:
Is the Microsoft Solutions Framework relevant in today's business world? Does anyone use it, or a variant of it?
Does the difference between the MCAD and MCSD certification matter to employers?
Has anyone heard of lean / agile process certifications that I could take to fill in my resume, rather than studying this monster of duplicate and triplicate process and waste that is MSF?
Anyone care to argue that MSF process is not an exemplification of excessive complexity and waste?
I apologize for the polemic tone - the logical/physical content of this cert are good enough. It's memorizing MS's view of hundreds of sub-steps and 8 roles in an unecessarily complex and orthodox process flow that's getting me.
