i'm going to take my 70-270 exam in a months time, i'm currently using "learnkey" with Aaron Spurlock, has anyone else used this, did it cover the right topics in enough depth, or is there something else people suggest?

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

I have not tried LearnKey - but surprisingly enough, Aaron Spurlock is the instructor on the turbocert CBT's.

At anyrate, best way is to do some practice tests. transcender is not cheap, but it's a really good practice set.

Just passed it today. I used Sybex book without the SP2 updates and Selftest Software. I got worried towards the date of my test that they were going to pound me on SP2 firewall questions but it was not bad and the sp2 questions were very easy. I did not find it to hard of a test but there were 58 questions so I found it very long. I took it on my lunch break and had I know it was that long I would have not done that again due to the rushing to make it back to work. Some of the question were very similar to the selftest software but memorizing the answers would have not helped.

Congrats Brichr, my test is on the 6th of Oct, fingers crossed i can join u in the wonderfull world of MCP :)

Congrats to Brichr and good luck to juan69.

As Microsoft exams go, this one is deceptively simple. It's a good example of the type of questions that one might find on a typical Microsoft exam, but not the same level of difficulty.

In other words, they get much harder after this one. If MCP is what you're looking for, then this exam is not so bad. If MCSE is your goal, don't get a false sense of security from the simplicity of this exam. It only sets you up to fail later on, so beware.

juan69,

What are you using for prep material?

When I took the 70-270 (probably 2 years ago at this point), the MS-Press book was adequate. I understand that they've increased the scope of the exam to include SP2 and added simulations, so the MS-Press book might not be enough these days.

I'm using learnkey with Aaron Spurlock, this has video's, and simulations, with pre and post tests. this is a 6 cd set. To make sure i'm not remembering the questions, i take practice tests on measureup.com. I need to get a book aswell, any suggestions Wishdiak?

juan69,

As it turns out, the 2nd Edition of the MS-Press 70-270 book includes SP2.

I haven't used this version of the book for this version of the exam, but back in the day, it was plenty good enough.

You might want to look into the Sybex 70-270 book also. It doesn't explicitly state that it covers SP2, but the publish date is March 2005.
