Programmer

I am a programmer who is interested in acquiring an MCAD certification. I have 3 years of experience with ASP and SQL Server 2000. I have been studying and understanding the .NET framework. In my firm, in order to work on better projects and earn more, one has to demonstrate an increase in skillsets and an eagerness to learn and evolve. Certifications help a lot. I love working with databases. However, I need a .NET certification too. I have about a month for a possible performance review.

I am now in confusion as to whether I should give exam 70-229 or 70-315 first. On one hand, I'd like to give 70-229 as I feel I have the experience for it. However, Microsoft has released SQL Server 2005 and I will have to give another exam in a year or two to catch up. On the other hand, I don't have working experience with .NET and that is a handicap while studying for it. However, giving this exam is a huge boost to my profile as a programmer.

With my schedule, it is possible to give only one within a month. Any insight from any of the more experienced programmers would definitely help!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about your 70-229 becoming obsolete any time soon. If you're just looking to get your MCAD then go with 70-229, 70-315 and the XML 70-310. While 70-229 is an elective for MCAD it is a core exam for MCDBA which sounds like direction you would like to take. If you're going to wait for the SQL Server 2005 exam then you might as well go for one of the "new generation" of certifications.

By "new generation", are you referring to .NET certifications or SQL Server 2005 certifications?

By the way, thanks for the input.

I was referring to the new .NET certs which by the way, if you do go for your MCAD, you can updgrade to the new MSPD by taking only one exam.

I had the same decision to make few weeks ago before I decided to go with 70-229 as a start and I don’t regret my decision. I passed 70-229 with 908 few days ago and I am preparing for 70-315 as we speak. My advice is to go with 70-229 as a start, it is not hard at all to get from the first time if give it the right preparation time and the right practice kit. After you done with it, you will gain the confidence necessary to attack 70-315.

Good luck

Hello friend,
I am preparing for 70-315 and wish to give it in a week or so...I am referring to
1. MsPress-Web Apps with C#
2. TestKing 70-315 v11..

Is it enough for 70-315??
Please suggest something more if you know..
