I've just upgraded my MCSE to 2003 and was wonding if there was any point in taking any security exams (assuming the cost is not an issue), would this add a specialisation to my MCSE? Also i've heard that 70 - 214 is one of the hardest exams around... period... is this true? Does anyone have any experience with this exam or the others?

I already have all comptia certs (a+, network+, server+) and was also planning on taking the security+ for that little extra polish on my resume. CCNA is next week sometime ;)

You're on the right track; but make sure as you spend the money that you're not just spending money... ;-)

I'm not spending any money actually, have you taken 214 jtb?

214 not yet... I wanted to upgrade to 2003, add the Messaging specialty, then see if we needed Security...

You see I've got onto a project where we spent 8 months migrating from one ASP provider to another, then we had to migrate 40+ servers from NT4 to W2K, now we're trying to build merge replication between two sites 1500 miles apart...

lots of billable hours, not a lot of time for self-study... ;-)

But I hope to be doing the 292/296 before too long... got the sw installed on a couple PCs, bought the blue book, the examcram 2 books, and now all I need to do is read and practice...

try the selftestsoftware transcenders, the format of the questions was just like the real exam.

Thanks!! Now if I could just find the time!!!

I took the 70-214 and found that it was not a bad exam. I can warn you that you need to be good with group policies because i found a lot of questions dealing with this along with security templates as well as the usual PKI stuff.
