all of my btrieve/payroll clients complain since upgrading to 7.6.200 of 1) lockups, 2) slow program entry, 3) screens freezing, 4) win98 or nt4 functionality is compromised compared to win2k or xp: we do know that macola is discontinuing support of these workstation OS even though MS has now backed off & has indicated it will support after all.

Are your sql sites all fine? Are you btrieve sites fine? If so, what helps the resolution at a btrieve site?

Most of the client's I've updated to 7.6.200 have been using 2000 / XP. In one of the cases, a client with Win98 computers had some printing issues (prior to the patch) and since then have been replacing the older computers with XP's.

Though Microsoft has extended their "support" for Windows98, I still would push clients to update to XP

(7.6.200 GR)If you attempt to rebuild a large Btr file (550mb) using System Manager, we discovered that Macola can required between 3 to 5 minutes to load from the time you double click the macola32 icon until you receive the log-in screen. The application is very strange and sluggish behavior. This was on a Win 2003 server (clean, fresh install), (twin zeon 2.4 and 1gb of memory, PSQL200i SP4)server with only one workstation running the rebuild and one work station attempting to login. We killed the macola rebuild, everything when back to normal. Login appears in less than a second. I have not had the opportunity to test this on our in-house system to see if we get simular results.
