Is there a problem with the latest wu-ftpd? I surely did have a rough time with that version!!! In fact I'm not even running it right now.

Update on the 6.1 to 7.2 upgrade.....

After trying just about everything, I decided to upgrade my RAM from 64 to 128 and 7.2 went in without a hitch. I just read in another post where someone solved the same Signal 7 and/or 11, 'exited abnormally' problem with a 32 to 64 MB upgrade. I figured I had enough at 64 - wrong for my system which has an AMD K6 processor.

I then ran up2date and got everything installed - and my wu-ftp took a nosedive. More of trying everything - uninstalled wu-ftp, shut down, reinstalled the 'old' version from the 7.2 CD and VOILA! Everything is chugging right along.

RhythmAce - bless you my son. I couldn't have done this without you (or at least my server wouldn't have lived through the ordeal!). I can't thank you enough for all your help!

I even learned a few things in the process in spite of myself. Thanks guys for the great forum. Maybe now I can answer something once in a while instead of just asking....

Hi,

Yes, varying the memory can certainly make a difference. For example, our beloved (!?) windoze 9x series thinks you don't have enough memory if you have > 512mb ( Bit of an old story that but interesting nonethless - well I thought so...

On wu-ftpd, there was an update to the original 7.2 rpm due to a sploit vulnerability so maybe its best to use that one if you are connecting it to the public internet -->

Anyway, I'm off to listen to Radio Free Linux and their audio recitation of the kernel source code -->

Regards
