anyone know where this thing is on an 6H1?

we inherited a couple of boxes from another org in our building and it looks like they tried to upgrade the OS w/o doing the firmware first, so the hosts are hanging at E443. i want to give a stab at draining the battery, but haven't been able to locate it's physical location yet.

TIA!

I seem to remember it is somewhere beneath the disk frame. There's also a special SP menu that allows you to clear nvram. I'll see if I can dig that up...

HTH,

p5wizard

thanks p5, i was able to force feed the latest firmware via the floppy drive and boot off an install cd to wipe the OS disk.

I had this problem just today when some peoples tried to install AIX 5.3 on a 6H1 without upgrading the firmware level.

As said by p5wizard, the best way for you is to plug a vt terminal when you have the prompt ok on the front panel.

Then in the service processor menu you have an option to reload a new firmware (option 7 as far as i rember) Then put the latest firmware on the 4 3"1/2 disks needed an reload it using the diskette drive
