mivb 8, 6940 with preferably more line buttons.

goal: how to identify an emergency call on a 6940 without looking to the phone.
our security department has this phone for normal use.
once or twice a week, the emergency number is dialed from within the hospital.
because of all current equipment on the desks (too much), I would like to minimize the number of phones.
so preferably 2 phones (as a backup of each other) with multiple numbers.
And recognize important calls by tone

any suggestions would be apriciated.

You can only set two different ring tones on the 69XX phones, one for internal calls and the other for external calls received.

I would suggest setting up a loud ringer (SIP device), and set a multi call key on the 2 phones.
Use this setup for the emergency line. When someone calls the emergency number, it also rings the ringer hence alerting the security.

great tip, I'll do that.

for a second department in a large room, I directly ordered the Algo 8180. Just received it.
I was a bit stunned of the broad range of options inside, for a 'SIP ringer'.
I'll test it next week.

Yes we use Algo 8180 all the time, it can be configured as multicast to other algos as well as used as a pager & ringer.
Neat device indeed.

can you elaborate a bit more about the multicast part?

You mean that you use it as a PA System alternative?
just configure 1 Algo, and 'repeat' the voice / ringing signal(?) to the other Algo's?

Did you configure multicast on your switches?

when we used algo as multicast thats what we did
add SIP extension for algo
setup multicasting on the switches so 1st algo can broadcast to additional

they have a multicast guide on their website

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Billz66 covers pretty much what is required.
One setting that is required to be enabled is the Multicast option on the Algo itself.

okay thanks for that Billz66 and Valamagules.

Today, I started to configure the Algo.
We used this Mitel config guide.

Registration is successful, but the phone won't ring if I dial 1094.

When I dial the Algo, the phone is redirected to the 'phone is not available' RAD text.
We even set all suggested SIP capability settings and COS in a new entry. But no luck.

I think I'll call Algosolutions, because I can't find usefull logging for this issue within the Algo.

any tips?

is algo in same network as the pabx ?

what is pabx address

can you show screenshots of
basic settings SIPadvanced/advanced sip tab

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Billz66,

The Algo is not in the same subnet, but is in our LAN.
As you can see, it registered (if I change the password, Ring #1 instantly changes to 'Rejected by server')

Mosy possibly a port issue, check to see if you have port 5060 open between the two network segments.

maintenance command:

SIP REGISTRAR CONTACTS 1094
Registrar Entry(s)
--------------------
2705:0xd87c1 (0x28f91338) State[IN SERVICE:Completed] CEID[1:2] Accepting reg Agent:Algo-8180g2/3.2.5 Addr:sip:1094@172.22.200.1
Contact1: sip:1094@172.22.148.192:5060
Time Left:135 Expires:300 Priority:0 Port:5060 Transport:1

so, 5060 works?

I just don't beleave it!
My password was 8 digits: 'Ring #1 Successful'
I changed it into 4: 'Ring #1 Successful', but now it works!
jeez...

thanks all!
