-653 errors NDS4NT

After nstalling NDS4NT i am having -653 errors when i try to add a replica to the NT server. I also when i follow dstrace see -602 and -603 errors. <br><br>Has anyone installed nd4nt 2.01 on NT with SP6?<br><br>System(s) is 4.11 and ds 6.09<br><br>Dsrepair reports 0 errors on all servers.<br><br>Schema enhancements have been applied<br><br>653 error is &quot;duplicte optional&quot; there are no other servers or volumes with the same name???????????????<br><br>Anyone had the same

I have worked with NDS for nt 2.01 on an NT server with Service Pack 5 installed, will be testing with 6 in a week or two.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you have a Novell Server with a replica on it?&nbsp;&nbsp;If so, don't put a replica on the NT server, or you will face utilization issues as well as synchronization issues.&nbsp;&nbsp;However, if you need to have one on here, make sure you specify an IPX address in the network properties as it will need this to communicate properly with other NDS servers.<br><br>Are you familiar with using DSDIAG??&nbsp;&nbsp;This tool can look at all replicas and do a compare and make sure that everything is in synch.<br><br>The other thing you may want to try is run dsrepair on the master, then run dsrepair on each server that holds a replica.&nbsp;&nbsp;Repairing the local database on each and make sure you select the option to rebuild the operational schema on each as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;If there are any errors, review them, save the database and run the repair again to ensure that there are no more errors.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>Since a replica is autonomous, repairing only the Master will not resolve any other issues on other replicas.<br><br>Question:&nbsp;&nbsp;When you updated the schema, did you use the DSRepair nlm that is located on the CD-Rom or the one on the server?&nbsp;&nbsp;You may want to check and see which one is newer and run that.<br><br>Other thing, when you installed NDS for NT, did the Domain object appear in the NDS tree?&nbsp;&nbsp;If not, then this is more than likely an issue with a specific NDs replica.<br><br>Let me know if any of this helps, or provide additional info...<br><br>************************************************************<br>Of course, this is one document that talks about the error:<br><br>-653 FFFFFD73 DUPLICATE OPTIONAL<br><br>Source:NDSTM<br><br>Explanation:An attempt was made to create a new schema class definition that specified an optional attribute in its own class<br>definition that was also specified as a mandatory or optional attribute in one of the new definitions' super class' schema-class<br>definition. <br><br>Warning: Applying all solutions mentioned in this topic could make the problem worse if the actual cause of the problem is not<br>known. Thanks for your reply Mark, however all of the above has been done or checked. NDS4NT works fine, i cannot get a replica placed on any NT server. I have Mail Box manager working as well. <br><br>The problem seems to be that the schema has already been extended with a object/class of the same type so will not extend. I feel someone has had a go with 2.0 in the past. <br>so a NT server object cannot be added.<br><br>I am with novell technical at the moment and talking to a DS specialist i will update this thread with whatever i find.<br>

Yeah, found that one too. I have done a full ds scan (and sent results to Novell) and there is no errors, minor or otherwise between the synchronisation. (or however you spell it). It seems to all point to the superclass object(s) and the fact that one already exisits. <br><br>Good one this is and i will let you know the steps and out come. <br><br>Thanks for your assistance, its appreciated.
