We currently have a 6509 with 2 x Sup720-3B supervisors and a mixture of X6748-GE-TX and X6148-GE-45AF blades. If we were to buy another 6509 chassis would we just have to replace the supervisors with Sup720-10G-3B modules to enable VSS?

NortonES2,

I just installed a couple of 6509E's in VSS mode and cisco recommended to use VS-S720-10G-3C sup's. You may need to verify that the 6500 chassie's you have will support the new sup's and also be aware that not all blades are supported at this time. I ran into a problem where it would not support the WISM blade. The configuration aspect of it was very simple. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Cheers for this, will do some more research regarding the chassis and blades.
