AIXers,
hi! i need your help in this. we have a client whos machine is H70 and running 4.3.3, They are using SAP V4.6b, with 64bit kernel. They wanted to use the RS machine and configure the OS to 64 bit. If i key in , "conf LONG_BIT" it displays only 32.
How can i change the RS to 64? please indicate exact command.
ANd is it really recommended to run the machine to 64 bit? Will there be any problem on my adapters or any peripherals installed in the system?

Thanks a lot for the help. I really need to hear from someone who knows better...

First step Do you have this fileset loaded?
lslpp -l | grep bos.64bit?

bos.64bit
You will need to load it....(I strongly suggest backing up your system with a mksysb first...) and you will need to reboot after installation.

One last thing ...I don't think that AIX 4.3.3 has a true 64-bit kernel
that is AIX V5.
AIX 4.3.3 does support 64-bit user-space applications.
The 64-bit user-space applications are enabled by
installing the bos.64bit fileset from the AIX 4.3.3
install media and then doing:
smit
System Environments
Enable 64-bit Application Environment

Hope this helps. I am sure others will chime in on this
