6404 smart array shows only 384 of 512 cache

I have a 6404 smart array controller that I added 512 cache too, the problem is that when I boot the server it shows as 384, I upgraded all firmware and drivers, but still get 384 shown as what is installed... anyone have any ideas

Officially, HP does not support the 6404 with 512Mb cache - the technical documents say that 256Mb is the maximum. Saying that, it does not mean it will not work.

Is the memory DDR?
